Alex MeersAlex Meers (WE)

Alex has spent the past 10 years implementing transformative HR initiatives at WE, a social enterprise and charitable organization that empowers people to create positive social change. He currently oversees talent management, learning and development and talent acquisition. As the organization has grown from 75 employees to over 1000, he has led various initiatives to improve employee retention, engagement and people analytics. Alex also carries a Masters Certificate in organizational development and change management from The Schulich School of Business as well as MBA Masters Certificate from Rotman School of Management. In his consulting work he has served clients including Fair Trade USA, Holland Bloorveiw Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Ontario Eco-Schools and Tulip.

Jessica ButtsJessica Butts (Delphi Group)

Jessica leads Delphi’s Toronto office, where her goal is to help some of Canada’s largest organizations move towards a low carbon future. She works with Delphi clients to navigate an increasingly complex landscape through collaboration, innovation, critical insight and consensus-building. Jessica leads initiatives across various sectors and markets – including energy, resources, forestry, transportation, manufacturing, retail and finance.
Areas of expertise include: sustainable business strategy, environmental risk management, climate policy, climate change mitigation, carbon markets and pricing, climate finance and GHG regulatory development across North America and internationally.
Prior to joining Delphi, Jessica worked with the Climate Change and Energy team at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Jessica has a Master of International Public Policy degree from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Wilfrid Laurier University along with a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management from Carleton University.

Gillian MorganGillian Morgan (BDC)

After graduating from a performing arts / enriched high school, she was scouted to play varsity hockey at UOIT, and earned her degree- honours in Comm. and a minor in Forensic Psychology. She was rapidly hired by BDC in Durham, then sought after to work for the Toronto mid-market team, and later promoted to an Account Manager, Commercial Banker. As a previous B.C. tree planter and current B-Corp Rep. she is highly passionate about corporate social and environmental responsibility. As a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, she holds a keen interest in Canadian/Indigenous affairs and gender equality. She represented BDC at the 2018 B-Corp Retreat in New Orleans, helped delegate at the “Canadian Indigenous Clean-Tech Roundtable”, sat as an ambassador at “OCE’s Discovery Conference”, and was a Judging Panellist at the “Enactus Canada Exposition” & “Ryerson| Slaight New Venture Competition”. She holds a deep love for sports, the outdoors, her family and working with ambitious entrepreneurs; assisting them to solve their business needs!
