Code of Conduct
Welcome to BLD Ontario! We're glad you're here.
BLD Organizers are dedicated to making this BLD event a fun, meaningful, safe and inclusive experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, visible or hidden ability, physical appearance, race, or religion (or lack thereof).
Our community thrives with mutual respect; we will not tolerate harassment in any form. Likewise, discriminatory and/or sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any talks, workshops, parties, Twitter, and other online media.
Event organizers will respond appropriately to any violations of our code of conduct, up to and including asking attendees to leave without a refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please notify a BLD Organizer immediately. We're happy to help.
Lead with empathy - appreciate others as human beings with abundant experiences
Get comfortable with discomfort - stretch yourself
Value diverse perspectives - honor the unique experiences each of us brings
Stay judgment free - of others and of ourselves
Maintain confidentiality - what we say here stays here unless you have explicit permission
Advocate for your emotional wellbeing - take care of yourself
Move up, move back - move up to share your perspective and move back to listen to others' contributions
Practice radical inclusion - make sure everyone - especially those historically at the margins - feel truly included
